It still has only 500. Everyone there seemed to believe "it takes a the whole village to raise a child" so if I was doing something my parents wouldn't approve of they knew about it before I got home. I don't know why they called them silent. But it was a great time to be a kid. I live in a very small town now (population about 1400) so it's a lot like when I was very young.
