Three things related to our word of the month…or three random things we thought of while we were shopping, driving, sleeping…well, you get the idea. The only thing we can guarantee is that Sherra thinks in threes and she insisted we do this on Thursday. She’s bossy like that.

Three things that help us stay calm, cool and collected connected every day…

Leigh Anne says…

  1. Putting my makeup on every morning is part of a quiet and calm routine that helps me start my day off right!
  2. I stay cool throughout the day by drinking icy diet Coke.
  3. I stay connected all day, every day by being a hi-tech mom. I use text messaging, Skype, Facebook, IMing and anything else I can to keep in touch with my kids every day. I find this especially useful now that three of them are away in college.

Sherra says…

  1. I have to make my bed every day or I am not calm the rest of the day. Yeah, just the act of making my bed creates calmness at my house. Just ask my family.
  2. Cool? I’ve never been very cool and I hate diet drinks. Classic Coke is my fav. I really do drink water all day.
  3. I stay connected by email and cell phone because I’m not as cool as Leigh Anne and my kids don’t want to talk to me all that much. Should I be worried?

I have to get my workout in. If I don’t, my day gets off to a bad start and I never seem to get my act together.

I’m also a water girl. But I don’t like ice water. So as much as tap water keeps you cool, that’s my thing. I always feel a tiny bit bad at restaurants when I order water because I know the waiter thinks I’m just being cheap, but the reality is that it’s my favorite drink!

I’m an internet addict. There. I said it. I check my email every couple of hours, love to blog, and have dozens of online friends that I’ve never met in real life but feel like I know well. I also am a phone girl – the best investments I ever made were for handsfree mics for both my home phone and cell phone so that I can roam around and get stuff done while I’m yakking.

CALM – like Sherra, organization is a must. Bed made, to-do list at the ready, and no miscellaneous clutter around the house.

COOL – never will happen. Although my niece and nephew think I’m pretty fun and they are 24 and 27 so I must be doing something to keep current.

CONNECTED – email, cell phone, laptop. How did we ever get along without these things??

Getting ready for the day, I must

CALM– Fall on my knees and thank GOD for so many blessings and ask for strength to get through the day.

COOL–water is my first choice. I fill my big pink container each morning and try hard to drink it all day long.

CONNECTED–I can’t live without my e-mail, reading my scriptures, and text messaging my children (or just leaving messages that I love them–all 5 are on their own now).

THANKS FOR YOUR AMAZING SITE!

You ladies are really making me think!
Not too sure I ever really thought much about that!
CALM: My Hubby! yes I used to be the biggest worry wort ever & then I met my guy & am now the exact opposite. He is a keeper!

COOL: hmmmm…..don’t need anything to keep me cool as I am always COLD!

CONNECTED: e-mail, not really high tech so thanks for helping me stay connected with your site.

*Calm*-reading my scriptures, prayer and running! And like Janice-my husband. He is the calmest person I know.

*Cool*-A shower especially after a run ( it does not have to be long). Also make-up and having jewelery and perfume on always make me feel put together and cool whether I am leaving the house or not. (Literally cool-I almost never dry my hair after my shower and long wet hair keeps you pretty cool for quite a while in the summer :) . If I am not showered or groomed all the way, I feel hot and frazzled, without exception.

*Connected* Email and phone. My family live in South Africa and Australia. I try to email frequently but we connect better on the phone since some of them are a bit computer phobic and all of them are very busy and don’t always get around to email. Unfortunately phoning is expensive, but so worth it.

Thanks for the fun exercise, it is good to pinpoint the things that make us feel good so we can celebrate them and do them more purposefully each day.

Calm—I love reading the scriptures
Cool—I love water
and
Connected—I keep connected with my kids, friends, and sisters via email. I also like letter writing.
