How true! How true!I do not have any friends that I have kept in contact with since I was 5, but recently I connected with a former boyfriend who proposed to me 37 years ago. . . . . . .Our paths have taken many different turns, but I’m grateful for this time to get to know him better. Thank goodness for phones, e-mail, and texting. (His wife passed away and my spouse walked out on me six years ago).

The friend that’s known me since i was 5 is actually my cousin Jean. We moved a lot when I was younger and didn’t stop until I was 16. She always made me feel like I had someone to go to and still does. I agree with Tamara that phones, e-mail, texting and now Facebook have helped us keep in touch and give enouragement to each other even when we can’t get together like we want.

The only friends that I have that I have known since I was five are family. My sister and cousins. My mother was my friend but she is no longer alive. No better friend can a grown woman have than her mother.

Is not important how many friends you have but how many you have been a friend to.

The closest I can come to that is my friend Kelly, we met when we were 11 and have been friends ever since!

My father passed away last week and at the funeral I saw many friends from when I was younger. I re-connected with my best friend from when I was 3-9 years old. It was fun to see that even though it has been many years since I saw her, we could pick up where we left off. The memories we shared back then are still vivid in our minds!

I am still friends with my friend Lori, whom I met in kindergarten. Our families are still friends and I just saw Lori’s Mom (in her late 70′s) last week at a baby shower we had for another mutual friend. It is fun to have “remember when?” conversations.

Ladies,

Love all your wonderful comments and Joyce I so agree that it doesn’t matter how many friends you have but how many you have been friends to! So true – thanks for sharing!!
