My first reaction to this was “Yea Right.” There were many years that I felt I was not understood at home and I know my brother has felt the same way recently. What I did find was that no matter if there was understanding there was always acceptance at home. I could come as I was and I would never be turned away. I’ve had a lot of conversations with my mom recently because of some current family drama and she’s wondered what she could have done differently for each of her children. I just tell her “You did the best you knew how to do with he information you had available. The best thing you gave us was a home to come back to when we needed a safe place.” I still feel that way. My mother’s home has and will always be my safe place even when she doesn’t understand me or what I’m going through.

I totally agree. I felt this way growing up and still feel that way about my home. This was a goal for me as a mother of six and many others that came to live with us. No matter where the “home” has been, I’ve wanted my family to feel safe, loved, and accepted.”
Just thought I’d let you know that the iLashGirls popped up on my google reader’s “top recommendations” sidebar today! Way to go!
