Three things related to our word of the month…or three random things we thought of while we were shopping, driving, sleeping…well, you get the idea. The only thing we can guarantee is that Sherra thinks in threes and she insisted we do this on Thursday. She’s bossy like that.

Three things that are just better homemade instead of store-bought:

Leigh Anne says…

  1. Flowers from my garden
  2. Chocolate Chip Cookies
  3. Salad Dressing

Sherra says…

  1. ANY cookie
  2. Ice cream ~ would someone make Kate’s Snickerdoodle ice cream & bring me some? ;)
  3. Halloween costumes (if Grandma makes them)

What do you love that is homemade instead of store-bought?

Vegetables from my garden (Sherra’s fave!)

Salsa

Jam/jelly

I think everything is better home made!

Socks

ice cream

Curtains

BREAD!!!
Actually, any baked goods. I’m a sucker for the aroma.
Tomatoes, by far the most important veggie to grow in the garden because store bought can never touch them.

Cookies
Tomato Basil Soup
Salsa

soup–almost any kind
home grown tomatoes–they actually taste like tomatoes
knitted items such as socks, scarves, hats, sweaters

All food – this week we’re enjoying apple pie and leftover home-corned beef and you can’t beat from-scratch brownies…

Birthday cards. Especially those made by the kids for relatives and friends. The cute sayings and pictures become keepsakes, the store-bought cards get tossed.

Christmas gifts…always a treasure, again, especially when made by the kids for grandparents.

All baked goods!

My top three would have to be bread, jelly/jam (especially my sister’s strawberry rhubarb jam), and potato salad.

I remember my mother having me lay down on a newspaper while she drew around my body. Then she would proceed to make me a dress from her “home made pattern.” I loved those dresses and no one ever knew that they were home made. Plus, they fit me perfectly!

spaghetti sauch (gravy if you’re from South Philly)
bread
Cheese Steaks

Bread–any kind of homemade
Soups–especially clam chowder and chicken noodle and. . . .. . . . .
Salsa

Definitely french bread, hot cocoa, and a hand written letter vs. a letter sent over email.

Most things homemade are better than store bought!
