Question of the Week

Do you have a special girlfriend celebration tradition?

Leigh Anne says…
My special girlfriend celebration is an “Annual Beach Babe Holiday Tea & Book Exchange.” Each year on the first Saturday of December we get together for a holiday tea at one of our houses or a restaurant. We each bring our favorite book that we have read that year for a book exchange.

Sherra says…
My favorite girlfriend celebration is an “Annual Girlfriend Retreat.” Ours isn’t at the holidays because we had to figure out a less busy time when we could all get together because we are four college girlfriends now living in four different states. We wait until March when the teacher in the group has her spring break.

Haven’t had a girlfriend retreat for a while ~ I think I need one!

Every year in early Jan. there are several girls who have a “scrapbooking” (that’s my cover…I rarely do much scrapbooking) weekend at Leigh Anne’s rental house at the beach. It is the hardest I laugh all year long! There’s nothing like watching my friend Joni act like Kaitlyn the ADD girl on SNL do cheerleading! I’ll never forget it, I laughed until I cried! (My disclaimer…I have a child with ADD, so, I have nothing against ADD children. Please don’t get me wrong!). We’re on the books and it’s only a month away…can’t wait!

Oops! I think I broke the “what happens at the beach house stays at the beach house” rule! :)

Mollie – I promise I won’t tell!! Leigh Anne

Look at those girls in the hot tub with snowflakes falling all around!! OH!! That’s me in that hot tub! What a great time we have had on our Spring break girlfriend retreats to the mountains AND to the beach! (Let’s NOT put a picture of us on the beach on this site–string check!!) Our girlfriend retreat to the mountains was my first experience in ‘me time’ and boy-oh-boy have I changed my ways since then! Nothing breathes life into a full time middle school teacher and mom of 2 busy children than time with the girls!

I belong to a group of doll collectors who met online over 15 years ago and we have had gatherings all over the US…PA, NJ, MI, TX, NV, GA, FL and CA. It used to be about dolls but now it is more about friendship. There are 24 of us and the nice thing is that someone is always available online if we want to share news…good or bad.

Friendships are so important and are to be celebrated!
