Gifts: Tips on getting what you want

Three things related to our word of the month…or three random things we thought of while we were shopping, driving, sleeping…well, you get the idea. The only thing we can guarantee is that Sherra thinks in threes and she insisted we do this on Thursday. She’s bossy like that.

Three tips on making sure you get the gifts you want:

Circle the item in the catalog, pin it on the fridge with note that says “Great gift idea”
Email with links to shopping online for ease
Buy it yourself and let them wrap it

I tell my oldest daughter, who is 9. She is then able to pass “gift ideas for Mom” onto my husband. This is of course a NEW idea so we’ll see if it works. And if not, I’ll try your gift idea #3.

All of these are brilliant ideas! Maybe a little crying and gushing about how much it would mean to you would help too.

write a very specific list or provide the links. I would rather get something I really want just as I would rather give something I know the other person wants. Since we started doing this my husband is relieved and always delivers. But, if you still want a (love language?) romantic note or small personal touch for the occasion you might need to give a small reminder once in awhile.

My family loves this way of buying for mom. She buys whatever she wants, wraps up the present and opens at the appropriate time in front of the family. They have no idea what they have bought, and it is usually a fun surprise for them to see what they have given her. Of, course they are more than happy to pay for it either before she has purchased it or after!!
