Freedom to Dream

Three things related to our word of the month…or three random things we thought of while we were shopping, driving, sleeping…well, you get the idea. The only thing we can guarantee is that Sherra thinks in threes and she insisted we do this on Thursday. She’s bossy like that.

Three things that that can help give you the freedom to turn your dream into a reality:

Leigh Anne and Sherra say…

  1. Write it down including your timeline for completion
  2. Break it down into manageable steps
  3. Share with someone else to keep yourself accountable

What’s a dream you have or something you achieved that you never thought possible?

A dream I accomplished was to write a book. I definitely am not a writer, but I took sections out of my journas from the last 40 plus years that I would like my posterity to know–good times, sad times, learning opportunities, lessons learned, fears overcome, etc. I made subtitles for each entry and bound at Kinkos. . . .Yes, there were typing mistakes, and yes it was probably not an A plus English assignment–but my sentiments were real. I resisted changing anything for fear of losing what I meant way back then. Someday I hope my children, grandchildren, great-grandchild draw hope from my “learning opportunities.” I cannot leave them lots of money or things, but I can leave them a legacy of FAITH and HOPE.

My dream was also to write a book. I wrote “My Story” and included pictures and experiences. I started when I was born and is ongoing. I had it professionally printed and bound and gave one to each of my sisters, my children, myself, and one to my stepmother for Christmas a couple of years ago. It was an accomplishment that I am glad I did. There are a lot of things I would do (will do) differently next time but it is done now and I am happy with it. It was a learning experience for me. Now I would like to write a short story (fiction) if I ever get my thoughts together. If not, I’ll just do my husband’s story.
