They are my best friends and we have taken trips together--Hawaii, the Beach, Black Butte, Hood River. My girlfriends have 1) Gone out to dinner with me once a week--their company is a lot cheaper than paying for therapy. 2) We have traveled, laughed, played and cried together. Even when I didn't have the money, I traded in some of my 401K money (probably not the smartest move--but I would do it again). The trips we did cannot be repeated because one of my dearest friends passed away 11 months ago today. She, as much as anyone, taught me to live in the moment and enjoy right now. 3) They helped me see life through "rose colored glasses" and to hold on until the waves sub sided and did not crash as hard. I don't have to do a lot of explaining. It's a safe place to talk and vent and say anything. They get it's in the moment and not necessarily something I feel all the time. My girlfriends are my safe haven. They can make me laugh even when I think I can't. I can really relax and just be me. My best girlfriends “get” me. I don’t have to do a lot of explaining.
